  • Extra experiences: Sea Trek®, Adrenalina, and selected premium activities cost extra, so check inclusions before booking.

What to expect at Xel-Há Park

Start in Xel-Há’s natural inlet

Ease into the day with unlimited snorkeling where freshwater meets the Caribbean Sea. More than 90 marine species inhabit these waters, and your admission includes fins, a life jacket, and snorkel gear.

Float the Xel-Há River

Follow the gentle current by inner tube from the river through mangroves toward the inlet. Along the way, step off for challenges including the Cliff of Courage, Monkey Jump, Trepachanga, and Salpichanga.

Turn up the adventure

Swap floating for Xel-Há’s World of Adventure, with zip-lines, rope challenges, and jumps from up to 16ft (5m). It adds a more active stretch to a day otherwise shaped around water and nature.

Climb the 131ft Scenic Lighthouse

Head 40m above the park for 360° views over the jungle, inlet, and Caribbean Sea. Then choose one of four spiral waterslides, descending from over 98ft into the natural pool below.

Slow down in caves and jungle

Leave the busier water attractions behind for jungle trails, caves, and freshwater grottos. Explore Iguana Grotto and El Dorado Cave, then find Paradise and Adventure cenotes deeper along the trails.

Refuel without leaving the experience

Your all-inclusive admission covers buffet meals, snacks, unlimited non-alcoholic drinks, and a domestic open bar. Between activities, you can also reset in hammock and lounge-chair areas before heading back into the water.

Things to know before booking your Xel-Há Park tickets

Choose full-day or afternoon entry

  • Full-day entry gives you more time for snorkeling, river floating, the Scenic Lighthouse, jungle trails, and the other included park activities.
  • Afternoon admission works differently: you get the same all-inclusive concept with less time inside, so compare the entry window before booking.

Most essentials are already included

  • All-inclusive Xel-Há Park tickets bundle admission with snorkeling gear, inner tubes, lockers, towels, buffet food, unlimited non-alcoholic drinks, and a domestic open bar.
  • Optional activities such as Sea Trek® and Adrenalina are separate purchases, so don't assume every activity inside the park comes with admission.

Decide whether you need transfers

  • Standard admission leaves transportation to you, while selected options add round-trip shared transportation from eligible Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Riviera Maya pickup areas.
  • Transport-inclusive tickets are worth comparing before booking if you don't want to arrange the journey separately.

Combine Xel-Há with an archaeological site

  • Tulum combination options pair the park with a guided archaeological visit, letting you cover both experiences through one organized day rather than booking them separately.
  • Choose these for the combined itinerary, not extra Xel-Há access; your time at the park will differ from a standalone full-day visit.

Check your cancellation option

  • Cancellation terms vary by the option selected, particularly for tickets involving transportation or a combined tour. Check the cancellation window shown for your chosen experience before payment.

Must-try activities at Xel-Há Park

Snorkel Xel-Há

  • Where: Xel-Há Inlet
  • Thrill level: Low
  • Experience: Snorkeling
  • Best time: Early morning

This is the experience Xel-Há is built around. Slip into the natural inlet and snorkel through waters where underground freshwater meets the Caribbean, with tropical fish below you. Gear is already included with all-inclusive admission, so there’s no separate equipment rental to plan.

River Tour

  • Where: Xel-Há River
  • Thrill level: Low
  • Experience: River floating
  • Best time: Morning to early afternoon

Grab a single or double inner tube and let the current carry you from the mangroves toward the inlet. You can float the route slowly or get into the water along the way, making this one of the easiest experiences to pair with Xel-Há’s more active attractions.

Scenic Lighthouse slides

  • Where: Scenic Lighthouse
  • Thrill level: High
  • Min. height: 1.05m (3'5") for slides
  • Experience: Viewpoint + waterslides
  • Best time: Before the afternoon rush

The climb is only half the experience. From 40m (131ft) up, take in the Caribbean and jungle panorama before choosing one of four spiral waterslides for the trip back down. It combines Xel-Há’s best elevated view with one of its most memorable descents.

Cliff of Courage

  • Where: River route
  • Thrill level: High
  • Experience: Cliff jump
  • Best time: During your river circuit

It takes seconds, but you’ll remember the jump. Step to the edge of the 5m (16ft) rock ledge and leap straight into the water below. Its position along the river makes it easy to add without restructuring the rest of your day.

Trepachanga

  • Where: River route
  • Thrill level: Medium
  • Experience: Rope crossing
  • Best time: During your river circuit

Two ropes, one river, and very little room for a wrong step. Trepachanga challenges you to cross above the water using suspended ropes for balance. Fall off and you land in the river, so even losing is part of the fun.

Aquatic zip-lines

  • Where: World of Adventure
  • Thrill level: Medium
  • Experience: Water zip-line
  • Best time: Before lunch

Swap a conventional zip-line landing for a splash. Hold on as you travel over the water before dropping into it at the end, making this a short but playful addition between Xel-Há’s longer snorkeling and river experiences.

Things to do at Xel-Há Park

Make the all-inclusive dining count

Breakfast, lunch, snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, and a domestic open bar are included with admission. Build meals into your route rather than leaving the park’s activities just to refuel.

Pro tip: Eat outside the busiest lunch period to spend more time exploring.

Slow down in the hammock areas

Not every hour needs to be in the water. Use Xel-Há’s hammocks and shaded rest areas to dry off, recharge, and break up snorkeling and swimming sessions.

Pro tip: Plan a rest between your morning and afternoon water activities.

Give younger visitors their own adventure

Children’s World offers shallower water activities and play features designed for younger visitors, giving families a change of pace from the larger inlet experiences.

Pro tip: Pair this with an adult rest break instead of making a separate detour later.

Explore Xel-Há beyond the water

Follow the park’s paths through its tropical landscape and discover quieter natural areas between the busier aquatic attractions. It’s an easy way to vary a water-heavy itinerary.

Pro tip: Save this for when you want to dry off between swims.

Turn the day into a nature-spotting walk

Keep an eye on the tropical surroundings as you move between activities rather than rushing directly from one attraction to another. Xel-Há’s natural setting is part of the experience itself.

Pro tip: Explore on foot between major activities instead of retracing the same route.

Add paid immersive activities for extra adrenaline

Optional experiences such as Sea Trek® and Adrenalina can add a different dimension to the all-inclusive park day, but they cost extra beyond standard admission.

Pro tip: Pick one paid extra rather than overloading an already activity-packed day.

Visiting Xel-Há Park with kids?

Planning a full water-park day with children? Xel-Há has a dedicated kids’ area, included safety gear, family-friendly activities, and plenty of places to pause between swims.

  • Their own adventure zone: Children’s World, designed for kids up to 12, has a wading pool, water slide, rope climb, playground games, and other activities.
  • Float together: The Xel-Há River can be explored on individual or double inner tubes, with platforms along the route for breaks.
  • Less gear to carry: Life jackets, inner tubes, lockers, a towel, changing rooms, and showers are included with admission.
  • Easy downtime: Hammocks and rest areas give families somewhere to reset; there’s also a quiet hammock area close to Children’s World.
  • Family-friendly savings: Children aged 0–4 enter free, while ages 5–11 receive 25% off the adult price.

Itineraries for a perfect Xel-Há Park visit

1-day itinerary: Make the most of Xel-Há

  • Morning (8:30am–1pm): Arrive near opening and start with snorkeling in the inlet while you’re fresh. Follow with a river float, then head toward World of Adventure for zip-lines, rope games, and the 5m jumps. Breakfast is included until late morning, so you can refuel without leaving the park.
  • Afternoon (1pm–6pm): Break for the included buffet, then climb the 40m Scenic Lighthouse for 360° views and its waterslide descent. Spend the remaining afternoon exploring cenotes and jungle trails, or slow down in a hammock. Want one extra splurge? Add an optional activity such as Sea Trek® or Adrenalina rather than squeezing several into one day.

Pro tip: Do your priority water activities first and leave the hammocks and trails for later.

Tulum + Xel-Há itinerary: Culture first, water second

  • Morning: Start early with the Tulum archaeological site. The combined tour includes transportation, a bilingual guide, around 45 minutes of guided exploration, and another 45 minutes of free time before continuing to Xel-Há. This makes more sense than arranging two separate outings if both are already on your Riviera Maya list.
  • Afternoon: Once at Xel-Há, prioritize what makes the park distinctive: snorkel the natural inlet, float the river, then choose between World of Adventure and the Scenic Lighthouse. Buffet food, drinks, snorkeling equipment, lockers, a towel, and other park essentials are already included.

Pro tip: This is approximately a 12-hour tour, so choose the standalone full-day ticket instead if Xel-Há itself is your priority.

Visitor tips & guidelines

  • Start with your priority activity: If snorkeling or the Scenic Lighthouse matters most, do it earlier rather than trying to fit everything into the final hours.
  • Use one locker strategically: Xel-Há has five locker modules across the park, so store valuables once and avoid unnecessary back-and-forth between activities.
  • Pair the river with nearby challenges: The river route naturally connects with several water and adventure experiences, making it easier to explore them together instead of retracing your path.
  • Use hammocks as a reset: Rest areas and hammocks are included throughout the park. Children’s World also has a quiet hammock area nearby.
  • Plan food around activities: Breakfast runs from 9:30am–11:30am and lunch/snacks from 11:30am–5:30pm, so you can refuel without sacrificing your highest-priority activities.
  • Bring the right sunscreen: Only sunscreen containing titanium dioxide and zinc oxide is permitted, so check the ingredients before arriving.
